Employment Law

Texas is an "employment-at-will" state which generally means that you may resign from your job at any time and you may be terminated at any time, for any reason, so long as the reason for your termination is not prohibited by state or federal law (e.g. discrimination and retaliation for reporting discrimination). The "employment-at-will" doctrine can be altered by the employee and employer by contract, and occasionally by company policy. If you believe that you have been terminated unjustly or sued by an amployee, you should contact a lawyer immediatly to determine your legal rights. If you would like to discuss your particular situation, then Contact Us.

The Texas Commission on Human Rights Act (TCHRA) and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protect individuals from discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion, and national origin. Both the TCHRA and Title VII have very short deadlines for filing claims of discrimination. If you feel you have been discriminated against, contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the Texas Commission on Human Rights immediately or Contact Us.
